Even the ride up in the gondola is a small spectacle. The view sweeps over the Söller valley, stops at the Bergdoktor house, glides on to the Hohe Salve and finally loses itself in the rugged peaks of the Wilder Kaiser. And somewhere in between lies this special place where water whispers, stones tell stories and the earth comes alive.

Once at the top, the children storm off - the witch's water is calling. A world full of wonder and discovery. There is something to understand around every corner – in the truest sense of the word. There is pumping, scooping, splashing and watching. Small boats dance on the whirlpool, mysterious scents rise from herb pots, and sometimes you even meet a real witch in a floppy hat who digs earthworms out of the humus bed with dirty fingers. “Look,” she shouts with a laugh, “these are our true earth treasures! Without them there would be no fertile soil.”

And that’s exactly what Witch’s Water is all about this year – that soil. About what we often overlook and yet is so fundamental. The children learn through play how important earthworms, microorganisms and healthy soil are for our lives. They dig, sniff, feel – with shining eyes and dirty fingers. And as parents, we are amazed. About the curiosity, about the wonder, about the quiet wonders that lie beneath our feet.

If heaven opens its floodgates, no problem. The witch's water also provides for rainy days. Inside, people continue to research, experiment, and build. You quickly notice: The weather doesn't matter here, because nature works in any weather - sometimes loud and colorful, sometimes quiet and deep.

At the end of the day we return to the farm, tired but happy. And by the time they fall asleep, the children are murmuring something about earthworms, witches and whirlpools.

And us? We are grateful. For a place like this. For a day like this. For the little miracles – right on our doorstep.
