The granary is a granary that is over 500 years old and has experienced a lot and could tell exciting stories. If you just imagine what will happen in 500 years: Da Vinci & Michelangelo created masterpieces, Martin Luther sparked the split in the church with his 95 theses in 1517, the Sun King Louis

Renovating and converting a building with so much history is a special challenge and requires a lot of feeling, passion and, above all, the right partners. With Dr. Peter Knapp, a professional for revitalization and monument preservation, we were able to recruit a master of architecture for our project. With him the topic of converting the granary into an apartment house was started. Sepp Koller, my uncle and senior partner at Holzbau Koller, accompanied us from the start. Peter & Sepp are a well-rehearsed team when it comes to revitalization and old wood.

The remaining companies were quickly found. One thing was clear to us: As always, we only work with our regional partner companies that have been tried and tested for years. Carpenters, electricians, plumbers – all reliable partners with handshake quality. It was clear to us from the start: a project like this requires passion, quality and a lot of common sense. Because such a conversion cannot be planned down to the last detail. Many things only come into being during the construction period.

This is how the idea of working with silver fir came about. We decided to design everything new from silver fir, with clean and simple lines. We used walnut wood as an accent in various pieces of furniture, for example in the large dining table for 12 people or the handmade beds. Nothing in the granary was left to chance: every little detail was thought about, discussed and, if necessary, changed again. No matter whether it's the power cables laid in copper pipes, the wall construction using dovetail technology or the luggage racks in the room - everything has its place and its detail.

In our blog we would like to give you an insight behind the scenes of the granary. Stay tuned...
